The 4790k will overheat on the default voltage which is around 13v @ 44Ghz The board is a Z97X UD5H BK and this is all on a custom loop All CPU's have been tested on this particular board with RealBench 15m stress test Messages 3 Decided to get my 4790k delidded to help temps During the wait i rebuilt my rig into a new inwin 509 case (Awesome case) Basically running all the same gear, added another ssd, except case flow shud be 100% better with the extra fans Got the cpu back mounted it on my gigabyte gaming 3 board with the h80i v2 cooler iI see you did an older chip, but if it makes you feel any better, my delidded 4770K has been in use for 35 years @ 47GHz and remains stable 4770K @ 47 GHz;

4790k delid temps-Intel i7 4770k delidding and overclockingVisit my website!I've had this processor at 50 ghz so I'm thinking this is a good one and worth the effort
On the other hand, the stock speed of the 4790K is a good amount faster than the 4770K and also draws more power, so other reviewers like Legit Reviews have shown that at stock settings, the 4790K runs about 5C hotter under load than the 4770K There isn't much need to swap, the 4670k is a great CPU, especially if you're running it at 44GHz Delidding is a cost effective way to drop your temps and even get a higher overclock If you don't want to risk it in the vise, delid tools exist at 1/10th the cost of replacing your CPU if things go south Link to postTemps aida64 around 70C Playing BFV around 65/70C Room temp maybe C (not sure about this, maybe it's lower) Didnt delid because I dont want to mess with the solder Delided my old 4790K and temps dropped around 15C but afaik the results are not this good in the soldered chips after deliding, so I don't think it's worth it

I7 4790k Heat issue, delid candidate?I have a i7 4790k running @ 48 ghz, 1295v, tcase 55c, core temp 6070c Once I push it to 49 ghz, 1375v, 1v cache The tcase is steady at 65c but the core temp (8096) are triggering adia 64 temp warning and it implements a throttle control system Will delidding be a solution to this issue? With this setup, I was getting temps greater than 80C during Prime95 testing I delidded the 4790K, reapplied Noctua NH1 between the die and IHS, as well as between the IHS and heatsink Initial tests looked good after the delid, with max temps dropping 7072Calmost a 10C drop Now a week later, I ran the same test and the temps on cores #2
I swapped out the i3 that came with my QNAP TVS671 NAS with an iS, which is the highest I could go CPU wise for the TVS line (65w TDP, max) I've used MX4 and reapplied it multiple times already because I haven't been happy with 1424V is fine if temps are in check, as long as 1424V is the measured voltage, not what was set in the BIOS Asus stated that for a normal chip, 143V is ok on air if not hard benching and 145V is ok for water cooling Delidding has a similar effect to using water on a normal chip, those temps are great! Hey guys, I've got an i7 4790K, temps under load @ stock clocks and volts are way above what I consider acceptable (84c on core 2 &3) Has anyone delidded and lapped their 4790k that can report back the results?
We've delidded a lot of CPUs now, including Tech Source's and Bitwit Kyle's This guide contains what we've learned about liquid metal application and resea My 4790k tops at 68c at 44 so i got lucky But anything above 44 and temps explode One day I'll delid too i guess It was super easy with the rockit cool kit, the only downside was the cost (in Actually, have three Haswells that am going to delid for better cooling, one is locked (i), therefore the main benefit will be to stop the temps from creeping upwards
I'm thinking of giving it a go today I One of the reasons I delid is with the lower temps I can lower the speed of all the fans in my case not only the ones on the cooler and have a much more enjoyable experience I have found the 8700K to be so quick at default speed that it is difficult to tell any difference when OCed except benchmark numbersIk Delid Success Successfully performed my first delid!
Ik High vcore and cpu temps I am running an i5 4690k @35ghz My idle temperatures are 70 degrees, when i was trying to benchmark it using cinebench it went up to 90 degrees Celsius Using asus ai suite it told me my vcore temp was 55 degree celsius After I overclocked it to 43ghz at 12v my idle temperature went up to 80 degrees View Full Version 4790K & 4690K "Devil's Canyon" Overclocking Thread Peen , 0617 PM Hey guys, been a very long time since I had some new gear to play with 4790K is on preorder, hoping to get it soon! Only x1 goal, to tame my Devils Canyon 4790K temps aka " Hot Bastard "Test pilot before an expensive Haswell Always said I'd never delid After watching a video of this delid tool in action, decided to give it a crack That's kind of what it sounds like when the IHS looses tension If the processor is warm more like a pop I think Vital

Put it back together, and voila lower temperaturesI set out to delid my iK, a CPU known for hitting some pretty high temperatures My takeaway, after spending a I am a video editor and am looking to upgrade my current 4790k to a 7900x I have a Corsair H110 AIO water cooler which is probably the largest I can get into my current case My goals for overclocking the chip are to have two cores at 4748 and the rest in the 4143 range Not a huge ask but I would like the temps to be closer to the 50s After i stop test it temps instantly comes back to idle which are as mentioned around 40C I previously had I7 4790k overclocked on 50 which ran around 5560C so i was just shock seeing i7 8700k running so hot on stock it still is hell lot of performance and should assist you temp wise until you manage the delid
But we really need a thread on the lovely XS that I've been a member on for over a decade now Seems like just yesterday I signed up! Before the delid my chip would only make it up to 44/45 GHz with temps in the Celsius range even when undervolting at the time I might of got lucky in the chip lottery as well When I was running 44 GHz I had the voltage at to keep the temperature over all four cores as low as possible Then there is my 4790k 48 @ 127v (bios @ 125) with improved delid (before was low to mid 90s) temps hitting 76c in the same prime 210 benchmark I think I may have a small amount of liquid metal left, might be enough to add to, at best

Long story short I want to see if my temps on this one fall in line with other delidded 4790's Current settings are 47 @ 128 Temps maxing at 85, but usually hovering in the 80's using OCCT small data set 72 F ambient Cooling is from a noctua d14 with plenty of airflowA quick tutorial on how to delid your iK Should work for other Intel CPUs tooWARNING THIS WILL VOID YOUR WARRANTYAll steps shown in this tutorial Corsair Strafe RGB & G610 Orion Red Software Win 10 upgraded from Win 7 Pro #1 I delidded my ik with incredible results I've only been running my ik at stock so far, and honestly haven't even paid attention to temps!

With the fan profile on performance, and pump at max, coolant temp never gets to 40c, however max core temperatures reach 8590 4790k is 46 all cores with 126v 1296v seen with AVX loads So I did my delid the other day, not having any CoolLabs paste I opted to go for some Arctc Silver 5 paste until I can get some CLU or CLP Doing research on the AS5 paste, it appears that I need to do a burn in on the paste, while doing a Intel Burn test, my temps peaked out at 75, mid way through they dropped to 63, is this normal? The 4790k is a good chip, you just don't understand how to set it up properly My 4790k idles 25c with stock cooling, and typically maxes out at 6076c with the most demanding real world applications (NOT prime95, it's idiotic to expect good temps running that on any I7)

My current setup is a 4790K running at 47ghz (127v) cooled by a Thermalright True Spirit and 2 x 140mm fans (pushpull) With this setup, I was getting temps greater than 80C during Prime95 I am getting ready today to get my 4790K delid and lower temps with Thermal Grizzly Conductonaut As my temps at idling are still acceptable, when trying to edit 4K video, core temps reaching easily 98'C So will keep you posted Reactions adamk77 and BananaX M Malus1 macrumors 6502 381 662
